Obituary Amon Martin, 97, of Tompkinsville, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Signature Healthcare of Monroe in Tompkinsville.He was born May 31, 1918 in Monroe County, KY to the late George Perry Martin and Mary E. Walden Martin. He was a retired Rural Mail Carrier, a Baptist Minister, a member of Monroe Baptist Church, where he pastored for several years and a WWII Army Veteran. He was united in marriage on January 16, 1949 to Inez Headrick Martin who preceded him in death on July 24, 2012. He is survived by one daughter: Linda Gillenwater and husband Roger, two granddaughters: Melinda Gillenwater and Charlotte Barber and husband Pete, two great grandchildren: Bethany Ann and Martin Douglas Barber all of Tompkinsville, several nieces and nephews also survive.In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four brothers: Guy, Edd, Garnet and Hascal Martin, three sisters: Lucille Shirley, Gladys Myatt and Ada Hood who was his twin.Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 27 at 11:00 AM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn with Military Rites performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.Visitation will be after 1:00 PM on Tuesday and after 7:30 AM on Wednesday at Strode Funeral in Tompkinsville.Memorials are suggested to Monroe Baptist Church building fund.
