Mr. Charles Mitchell Short, age 88, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his step-daughter’s home. Charles was born in Monroe County on March 17, 1936, a son of the late JC and Maureen (Collins) Short. He obtained his High School Diploma while serving in The United States Army. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after Thirty years of service. Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years; Carolyn (Brown) Short, Step-daughter, Jennifer Lynn Dyer and husband Bobby, of Tompkinsville, one grandson, Billy Michael Ray Dyer, and one daughter, Tonya Turner. Three sisters; Barbara Cleary and husband Paul, Judy Short, and Jackie Firkins and husband Tim, two brothers; Ricky Short and wife Debbie, and Danny Short. Four sisters-in-law; Janice Short, Margie Short, Kathryn Grube, and Gerene Brown, one brother-in-law, John David Brown, and wife Syndee, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; James Short, Wayne Short, Steve Short, and Clyde Short, one sister; Ruby Chloe Eubank, two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Short and Lavonne Welch, three brothers-in-law, Willie Paul Brown, Bobby Welch, and Michael Grube, and one nephew, Scottie Arlan Short.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with interment to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Bradley Shaw will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday after 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hosparus Health in memory of Charles.
Bartley & Sons Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Short and his family during this time.
