Cindy Lee Proffitt

Mrs. Cindy Lee (Ray) Proffitt, age 70, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2025, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, surrounded by her family. Cindy was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 25, 1955, a daughter of the late Fred Leslie, Jr. and Nellie Allene (Moore) Ray. Cindy held a Masters and Rank I in Special Education and retired from the Monroe County Board of Education, where she worked with children ranging from elementary, up to high school age. She was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed spending time with her family and her granddaughter.

Cindy is survived by two daughters, Sarah Joiner, and Sallie Proffitt, one granddaughter, Alex Faye Joiner, all of Tompkinsville. One brother, Keith Ray and wife Terry of Louisville, and Cheryl Robinson and husband Dan of Florida, one brother-in-law, Rondal Bartley of Tompkinsville, also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Alden Proffitt, one brother-in-law, Terry Proffitt, and one sister-in-law, Marcia Bartley.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Pastor Daniel Robinson will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, after 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Mrs. Cindy.
