Divie Arterburn

Mr. Divie Arterburn, age 88, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at TJ Samson Community Hospital.  Divie was born in Tompkinsville, on May 27, 1935, a son of the late Herold and Iness (Comer) Arterburn.  He enjoyed woodworking and piddling around in his garage.  You could always find him sitting in his yard under the shade tree when it was hot outside.  He enjoyed telling stories about his childhood, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by six children, Joyce Carey and husband Hollis, Jeffery Arterburn and wife Remona both of Glasgow, Jean Davis and her companion Ricky Netherton, Ree Nell Blythe and her husband Tony, Shirley Copas and her companion Mike Teeples, and Ivan Arterburn all of Gamaliel; two sisters, Pauline and Christine, along with 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Anna Lee (Burks) Arterburn, four sisters, Bonnie Crowe, Tessie Poland, Grovie Collins, Lorene Williams, and four brothers, Ernest, Arlis, Rex and Carlie Arterburn.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. from Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with burial to follow in Neal Cemetery.  Bro. Gary Emberton will officiate the services.

The visitation with the family will be on Wednesday morning after 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
