Ruth Wood

Mrs. Ruth (Sheffield) Wood, age 81, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023, at her home.  Ruth was born on January 21, 1941, a daughter of the late Adrian and Lura (Proffitt) Sheffield.  She was a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son; Ricky Wood and companion Missy Trobaugh of Celina, Tennessee, two daughters; Vicky Barnett and husband “Bubba”  Dwaine, and Tena Carnahan and her husband Doug, both of Tompkinsville, and one sister; Nadine Wood. Her grandchildren; Tyler Wood (Katie,) McKenna Bullock (Dylan,) Brady Carnahan, Landon Smith, Dr. Randy Davidson, Step-grandchildren; Dallas Carnahan (Hillorey,) Kasey Moore (C.J.,) and nine great-grandchildren; Drew Davidson, Will and Alex Smith, Collins Bullock, Wade, Jaxon and Caroline, and Lukas and Layne Moore also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Gee Wood, two granddaughters; Megan Davidson, and Morgan Smith, two brothers; Delbert and Rex Sheffield, and three sisters; Geneva Speakman, Carolyn Bowman, and Lorene Brown.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.  Bro. Josh Strong will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning after 9:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00.
