Fred G. Smith

Obituary Fred G. Smith, age 82, of Fountain Run, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at his home. He was born March 22, 1932 in Macon County, TN to the late Oscar Smith and Lillie Pedigo Smith. He was a farmer and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. He was united in marriage on December 24, 1953 to the former Iva Jean Wisdom in Monroe County, KY. He is survived by his wife: Iva Jean Wisdom Smith of Ft. Run, one son: Joe Smith of Akersville, KY, three daughters: Barbara Sue Wood of Ft. Run, Betty Simmons of Flippin, Sharon Propes and husband Jeffrey of Glasgow, one brother: J.C. Smith of Lafayette, TN, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters: Joyce Ann Smith and Lori Lynn Smith, three brothers: Willie J Smith, Sr., William Smith and Witt Smith, one sister: Opal Woods, one son-in-law: Roger Dale Simmons and one grandson: Jeremy Clay Smith. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 27 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM on Thursday and after 7:30 AM on Friday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Memorials are suggested to the Bethlehem Cemetery or the Neal Cemetery.
