Ms. Ida Glaydelle (Baskett) Hammer, age 89, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family. Glaydelle was born in Monroe County, on September 4, 1936, a daughter of the late Hearl and Lucy (Ford) Baskett. She was a 1954 graduate of Tompkinsville High School and retired from Sonic in 2001. She enjoyed word puzzles, joyriding, and spending time with family and friends, and entertaining at her house, especially poolside, amongst her beautiful flowerbeds. Glaydelle was saved at the young age of eleven at her home, gave her testimony and was baptized at a revival at Mill Creek Baptist Church and was a member of the Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlene Patrice Peterman and husband Lee of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sonya LaRay Turner and husband Eddie, and Robin Michelle Hagan and husband James of Tompkinsville, five grandchildren, Amy Lyon, Erica Brumitte, Tristan Turner, Jacob Hagan and Noah Hagan, and four great-grandchildren, Alex Lyon, Jake Lyon, Rylee Brumitte, and Bo Brumitte. One brother, Bill Waltrip and wife Judy of Bowling Green, extended family, Brittany, Sutton, and Salem, a special caregiver, Debbie Patterson along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Randall Baskett, Johnny Waltrip, and Jack Rich and one sister, JoAnn Heyn.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in the Jane Yokley Cemetery. Bro. Joseph Rushing and Bro. Steve James will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday morning after 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jane Yokley Cemetery in memory of Ms. Glaydelle.
