Hollis Magalea Goad Thompson

Mrs. Hollis Magalea Goad Thompson, age 89, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at her home.  She was born on July 3, 1933, the daughter of the late James Cecil and Irma Blankenship Goad. She was the granddaughter of HN and Sally Magalea Newbery Goad, Edd Wilson, and Jhina Hollis Farley Blankenship, named after each of her grandmothers. 

She was a 1950 graduate of Gamaliel High School and was licensed with the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers & Cosmetologists since 1951.  She worked at Key Work Clothes for thirty-five and a half years, retiring in 2001 when the factory closed. She was a member of Beautiful Home Missionary Baptist Church. 

On April 21, 1962, she married Joe Edd Thompson, who preceded her in death on February 8, 1994.

She is survived by a son, Ronnie Joe Thompson, and a daughter, Connie Thompson, both of Tompkinsville.  One grandson; Cody and his wife Robin Thompson, three great-grandchildren; Brandon Ray Star Thompson, Ina Magelea Rose Thompson, and Joseph Allen James Thompson, all of Edmonton, and one sister; Sandra Grinestaff and her husband Billy also survive. 

In addition to her parents, and her husband Joe Edd Thompson, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Madison Starr Thompson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Beautiful Home Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Beautiful Home Cemetery.  Bro. Mark Copass will officiate the service. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2022, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
