Obituary J. C. Carlock, 82, of Tompkinsville, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.He was born August 15, 1931 in Monroe County, KY to the late Clyde Carlock and Myrta Harlan Carlock. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church for 69 years, he was a deacon, church clerk and song leader, was also a member of the Lions Club, Tompkinsville Industrial Foundation and Chamber of Commerce.He was united in marriage on January 1, 1950 to Murlene Grimsley Carlock who preceded him in death on April 12, 2005.He is survived by two daughters: Pam Propes of Hendersonville, TN, Patsye Murphy and husband Eddie of Tompkinsville, three sisters: Ida Cassie McCreary, Bessie Hammer and husband Raymond and Nina Hammer all of Tompkinsville,three grandchildren: Jonathan Propes and wife Elaine of Hixson, TN, Lindsay Wood and husband Barry, Jennifer Guffey and husband Eric all of Tompkinsville, four great grandchildren: Mary Beth and Benjamin Propes of Hixson, TN, Travis and Hadley Wood of Tompkinsville.Special Caregivers: Nina Hammer, Cindy Corbin, Vivian Coomer, LuAnn Bryant and Barbara Botts.In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister: Zella Drane Myatt.Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 3 at 2:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Saturday and after 8:00 AM on Sunday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
