James Dale Proffitt

James Dale Proffitt, 83, of Louisville, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Norton Audubon Hospital. Jim was born on December 28, 1942 in Ames, Iowa to the late Finley and Clarice McPherson Proffitt. He was a retired employee of Canteen Food and Vending where he worked for over 30 years and a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cornhole and finding a good yard sale. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Proffitt and Bob Proffitt.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Pauletta Ford Proffitt; one son, Jeffrey Proffitt (Cindy); a brother, Bill Proffitt; one sister, Verla Brown; a sister-in-law, Sharon West; two grandchildren, Caleb Proffitt and Autumn Powell (Jacob); along with two great grandchildren, Sadie and Lyla Powell.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
