Jonathan “Jack” Frank Van Curen, 79, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his home. He was born August 26, 1943, in Logan, OH to the late Samuel James and Rosanne Jones Van Curen. Jack spent many years as a minister of the Gospel. He ministered to Churches in Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia. Later he attained the designation of Certified Financial Planner and was employed with Axa Equitable until he retired in 2019.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Elaine Deckard Van Curen; daughter Leah Van Curen of Lake Wylie, SC; sons Jonathan “Jon” L. Van Curen (Karen) of Lake Wylie, SC, and James Michael Van Curen (Lori) of Blue Ridge, VA; brother Samuel J. Van Curen, Jr. (Paula) of Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren Audrey Warnick (Charlie) of Lake Wylie, SC, Brandi Anderson (Phil) of Roanoke, VA and Zachary Van Curen of Blue Ridge, VA; great-grandchildren Parker, Addi, Preston, and Marley; half-sister Gloria Gray (Juan) of Oak Park, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Providence Road Church of Christ, 4900 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC with the Rev. Matt Haynes and Rev. Kent Massey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Gamaliel Cemetery.
