Katherine Gayle Cleary

Mrs. Katherine Gayle Cleary, age 60, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at The Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. Katherine was born in Monroe County, on September 22, 1964, a daughter of Edith (Bartley) Cleary, and the late Marvin “Pug” Cleary. Katherine was a 1983 graduate of Tompkinsville High School, and had worked at the Drive In, and sewing factories. She enjoyed writing poems and collecting antiques. She was a member of the Sulphur Ridge Church of Christ.

She is survived by her mother, Edith (Bartley) Cleary, husband, Jason Grider, four children, Todd Newport and wife Brittany, Tacey Newport, Kaleb Grider, and Laney Crews. Siblings: Ricky Cleary and wife Pam, Shirley McPherson and husband Ronnie, and brother-in-law, Ben Spickard, three grandchildren, Brynn, Cade and Hayden Newport, one great-grandchild, Rylee Brooke Newport, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kyle Newport and Trevor Cleary, and two sisters, Brenda Spickard and Barbara Scott.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with Billy Joe Williams officiating the service. Interment in Old Mount Herman Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held after 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
