Laverne (Gibbons) Chapman Frazier, age 98, formerly of Tompkinsville, passed away on May 9, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Laverne was born on September 17th, 1926, to the late Print and Rosa Gibbons. Laverne loved to travel, work in the flea market and cattle farming. She also loved spending her birthdays in Las Vegas.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Tassie and one son, Danny Chapman (Gail) Chapman both of Lexington, Kentucky. Four grandchildren: Joel Tassie (Linda) of Greenville South Carolina, Amy Hatton (Steve) of Lexington, Debra Hammond (Kerry) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Lesley Chapman (New York). Nine great-grandchildren: Hannah Thompson (Tee), Noah Tassie (Jordan), and Isaac Tassie all of Greenville, South Carolina, Tyler Hatton (Sarah), Jessica Vincent (Andrew), Olivia Moore (David) all of Lexington, Tassie Shankle (Chris) of Loveland, Colorado, Dan Hammond and Emma Hammond both of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Nine great-great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Anders, Ezra and Adler Tassie of Easley, South Carolina, Alether and Oliver Thompson of Greenville, South Carolina, Greyson Vincent and Noland Moore both of Lexington, and Mr. Ezra Shankle of Loveland, Colorado. Along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband’s Charles Chapman, Clifford Frazier, and one special friend Edward Bartley. Her sister, France Copas and brother, Charles Bushong.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday July 26th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
