Margie Nell Rich

Margie Nell Rich, 80 of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away at her home on February 24, 2022, after an extended illness relating to a heart condition. Her family is deeply saddened by her passing. She was born and raised in the Mount Gilead Community of Monroe County. She attended the Mount Gilead One Room School and later graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1959.

Margie married Otis Rich in 1961. She was employed for many years as a sewing machine operator in the local area, working for Red Kap Industries, Key Industries, Genesco, and Kentucky Apparel. Margie loved spending time with her family and was an avid reader. She was a basketball fan, following Falcon Basketball when her grandsons were playing as well as watching the UK Wildcats every time they were on TV. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Margie is survived by her children: Sharon Bartley and husband Phil, David Rich and wife Revena, and Danny Rich and wife Denitra. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Charles Bradley Rich and wife Erin, Thomas Bartley and wife Whitney, Kelly Russell and husband Ethan, Leah Clark and her husband Evan, Keaton Rich, Alexa Rich, Tylor Proffitt, Grayson Rich, and Brody Rich. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Bella Russell, Gannon Bartley, Haidyn Russell, Addie Grace Bartley, and Everleigh Rose Clark. Margie is also survived by a sister Mary Kingery, two brothers Harold Frazier and Ted Frazier, many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Otis Rich, her parents Nettie Pennington Frazier and Ves Frazier. She was also preceded in death by four siblings: Joe Frazier, Carl “Shorty” Frazier, Carolyn Lambert and Ruth Davis, and one infant sister.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 27 at Bartley and Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with Dr. Jerry Bean officiating.  The family will receive visitors after 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, and after 8:00 am on Sunday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children Children’s Hospital.
