Mr. Marshall “Dale” Fudge, age 74, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Monroe County Medical Center. Dale was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on March 1, 1947, son of the late Franklin Marshall, and Reba Mae (Scott) Fudge. He graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1964, he then went on to WKU and earned his Masters and Rank I in Education working for the Monroe County Board of Education for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1996. On September 2, 1967, he married Mary Ann Jackson, who recently celebrated fifty-four years. He was a former member of Marrowbone Methodist Church and attended Gamaliel Baptist Church.
Dale had a love for all things history, in his 28 years of teaching he enjoyed giving map tests and expanded on Kentucky History. He coached Junior High Basketball at Gamaliel for ten years, was a member of Livermore National Guard, and served Monroe County National Guard for six. Dale had a special love for farming, growing tobacco, and raising and showing dairy cattle. He served as Director of Dairy Farmers of America, was Director and board member of The Dairy Alliance, a member of Monroe County Water District, and a proud Kentucky Colonel. Dale loved to serve, but most of all he loved his family and grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Fudge, two daughters; Jill and her husband Chip Willingham of Woodburn, Kentucky, Julie and husband Jim Briedwell, of Murray, Kentucky, and one son; John Fudge of Gamaliel. Three grandchildren; Sydney (Ethan) Blomeier of Bowling Green, Kendall Willingham of Woodburn, and Matthew and Daniel Briedwell of Murray also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday after 8 until time for services at 11:00. Burial will be in Gamaliel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gamaliel Cemetery, or to Monroe County Retired Teacher's Scholarship Fund in honor of Mr. Fudge.
