Obituary Mary Elizabeth Whitehead Cross, 91, of Tompkinsville, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Monroe Health & Rehab Center in Tompkinsville.She was born February 14, 1924 in Monroe County, KY to the late Johnny P. Whitehead and Lula Frances Turner Whitehead. She was a homemaker, a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church and a charter member of Bethlehem Eastern Star.She was preceded in death by husbands James David Cross and William Rex Turner.She is survived by three sons: David W. Cross and wife Helen of GlasgowAbe Lee Cross and wife Raina of Ft. Run, Johnnie W. Cross and wife Vickie of Tompkinsville, James Mark Cross of Tompkinsville, one daughter: Lula Shirley of Tompkinsville, one sister: Wilma Dean Hursh of Decatur, IL, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by one daughter: Shirley Ann Curtis, two sons-in-law: John Edd Shirley, J. B. Curtis, two brothers: Luther and Thurman Whitehead and two grandchildren: Christopher Lee Cross and Shannon W. Cross.Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 4 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the Neal Cemetery at Flippin.Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Tuesday and after 7:30 AM on Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Eastern Star services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to the Neal Cemetery, Bethlehem Cemetery or Bethlehem Eastern Star.
