Rachel Ann Creek

Ms. Rachel Ann (Wheeler) Creek, age 98, of the Bugtussle Community, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at her home. Rachel was born in Gamaliel, on December 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Alvis and Ruby Olion (Turner) Wheeler. Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family outdoors, in the flowerbeds and garden, and quilting. She was a member of the New Liberty General Baptist Church.

Rachel is survived by one son-in-law Danny Lowe Smith, one grandson Spenser Smith and wife Colee, and two great-grandchildren Saeger and Dallee Smith, all of Bugtussle. One nephew Reggie Wheeler, two nieces, Lisa and Lana Wheeler, along with a host of cousins and extended family also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dessie Goodnight Creek, daughter, Wilma Joyce Smith, one brother, Nelson Wheeler, and one sister-in-law Ellen Bernece Wheeler.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at New Liberty General Baptist Church, with Brothers Jeremy Yokley and Kenny Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Friday at New Liberty General Baptist Church after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The New Liberty Cemetery in memory of Rachel.
