Mr. Reggie B. Spear, age 82, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Overton County Health & Rehab, in Livingston, Tennessee. Reggie was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky on June 30, 1942, a son of the late Floyd and Marie (Thompson) Spear. He was a 1960 graduate of Gamaliel High School, and married Linda Nell Thomas on November 9, 1963. Reggie was a self-employed carpenter, and farmer after his time of service in the Vietnam War, he served in Fort Knox, and Fort Carson Colorado as a Tank Gunner.
Reggie enjoyed working in his garage on cars, trucks, or just hanging out with his friends and trading on merchandise in a parking lot downtown. He was always smiling and tried to be a friend to all. He was a wonderful husband and best friend to his wife of sixty-one years.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Thomas) Spear, of Tompkinsville, two sisters, Reva Patterson and husband Doug, of Elizabethtown, and Linda Lane and husband Junior of Glasgow, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Spear, Roy Spear, and an infant sister, Judy Spear.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn Military Honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20. Jack Honeycutt will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Reggie may be made to Gentiva Hospice, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Monroe County Historical Society.
