Ronda Carolyn (Bushong) Jordan, 80, Tompkinsville, died on Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2025.
She was born on October 31, 1944, to the late Ronald and Grace (Marshall) Bushong.
On June 19, 1966, she married John D. Jordan, originally of Whiteville, NC, who died on July 8, 2024.
She graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1962 and the University of Kentucky in 1966 with a degree in Home Economics.
Following graduation, she and John moved to Winston Salem, NC, before they relocated to Todd County, Kentucky as John became the Cooperative Extension Service Agriculture Engineer and she worked at Western State Hospital, as a vocational instructor. The family relocated to Tompkinsville in 1970, and she ran the family dairy farm, raising crops and cattle.
Later, she and John opened the Saw Shop, and then the Farmers’ Service branch of Southern States Cooperative, Kentucky-Tennessee Tractor Parts and Greenworld Florist.
After over 25 years in business, she joined the Family Reunification Team with Community Action of Southern Kentucky, where she worked with families in need. In addition to her work, she and John were active members of the Mid-Kentucky Antique Car Club, and she was a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ronda Ellen Jordan-Elam (Mark) of Tompkinsville, Leigh Ann Jordan Davis (Brian) of Lexington, and Johnna Carol Jordan McHugh (Brian) of Simpsonville; one brother-in-law Robert (Connie) Jordan of Lumberton, NC, seven grandchildren, Allison Thompson Turner (Matt) of Bowling Green, Jordan Elam of Columbia, Bailey Watson (Tensley) and Catie Elam of Tompkinsville, Grace and Hope Davis of Lexington, and Caroline McHugh of Simpsonville, and a great grandson, Max Turner. Other survivors include extended family, William Lynn (Tara) of Covington, Ga, Virginia King (Keith), Jackie Dale Thompson (Emily), Eddie Rose Bartley, and Joseph Tooley (Amanda), all of Tompkinsville.
Other than her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Blanche Bushong Trimble and her husband, Joe Trimble.
Private graveside services and burial were held at sunset on Monday, May 12, 2025. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tompkinsville First Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monroe County 4-H for 4-H camp scholarships or a family-supporting charity of your choice. Donations for 4-H may be mailed to the Cooperative Extension Office, 288 Commerce Dr., Tompkinsville, KY 42167.
