Mr. Rudolph Hume, age 100, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Rudolph was born in the Mt. Gilead Community on March 18, 1925, to the late Bill Nelson and Honor Rasner Hume.

Rudolph served in the United States Marine Corps at Okinawa, and in the Philippines during World War II. He worked at Key Industries for several years, along with caring for his family farm. Rudolph was saved as a seventeen-year-old boy and was a member and Deacon of Skaggs Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Nellie Effi (Chapman) Hume, his three children: Dr. Timothy Hume and wife Pat, Anita Hood, Kirk Hume and wife Kathy, all of Tompkinsville. Grandchildren, Jennifer Proffitt and husband Tim, Robert Hume and wife Ashley, Chris Hood and wife Jessica, Steven Hood, Mary Hume, Jacob Hume, Sarah Hume, Matthew Hume, and four great-grandchildren, Liberty and Easton Proffitt, and River and Rowan Hood. One sister, Naomi Guffey of Tompkinsville, and one brother, Mark Hume of Lexington, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Hood, four brothers, Ishmael, Eugene, Morris and Bennie Hume, and two sisters, Muriel Grider and Virginia Deckard.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Bro. Billy Michael Stinson and Bro. Terry Jackson will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home and again on Sunday morning after 9:00 a.m. until the time for services at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers: Chris Hood, Tim Proffitt. Robert Hume, Steven Hood, Jacob Hume and Matthew Hume

Honorary Pallbearers: Jennifer Proffitt, Jessica Hood, Mary Hume, Sarah Hume, Liberty and Easton Proffitt, Ashley Hume and River and Rowan Hood

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skaggs Creek Cemetery, or Skaggs Creek Missionary Baptist Church in memory of Rudolph.
