Mrs. Sharon Yvonne (Emberton) Eakle, age 79, of Gamaliel, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Monroe County Medical Center. Sharon was born in Barren County on March 30, 1945, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Dorcia (Burks) Emberton. Sharon graduated from Gamaliel High School, Class of 1963, and attended Lindsey Wilson College. Sharon worked all of her life, starting at Stitches Manufacturing, later retiring from Dana Corporation, and ending her career working alongside her daughter at Gamaliel Family Medical. Still, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She was full of laughter, had a love for gardening and flowers, and was resilient in caring for those she loved and touched the lives of all who knew her. Sharon was a New Salem Missionary Baptist Church member and attended Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church for spiritual guidance delivered by her brother, Gary Emberton. She was united in marriage to Lewis Eakle on April 10, 1965, he preceded her in death on December 24, 2017. Her absence leaves a void in our hearts, but her spiritual belief was strong, and we are joyful in her reunion with the Lord and her loved ones who have gone on before.
Sharon is survived by a daughter; Dr. Kimberly Eakle Hume and husband Perry, son, Paul Kirk Eakle, and companion Rita Crabtree, all of Gamaliel, two brothers, Gary Emberton and wife Connie, and Mike Emberton all of Tompkinsville. A host of nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Lewis Eakle, one brother, Sheldon Emberton, son-in-law, Randy Gerald, and one sister-in-law, Kathy Emberton.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, from Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with interment to follow in the Clementsville Cemetery in Clay County. Bro. Gary Emberton will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday after 7:30 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department, Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church or to Clementsville Cemetery in memory of Mrs. Eakle.
Pallbearers: Neal Isenberg, Randy Cook, Cameron Cook, Trey Isenberg, Trevor Isenberg, Nick Joinville, William Joinville, Steve Turner, Darin Burks, and Doug Burks
