Obituary Timothy Nelson Birge of Gamaliel, Kentucky formerly of Fountain Run, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020, at The University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was 60 years old. Tim was born in Summer Shade, on March 7, 1960, to the late Kenneth Nelson Birge, and Nina Ann Riddle Birge. Tim was saved at home in his bedroom during the 1976 revival meeting at Fountain Run Missionary Baptist Church. He joined the church there and was baptized the same year. His membership remained at Fountain Run Missionary Baptist Church until his death. Tim was a 1978 graduate of Gamaliel High School, where he proudly wore the purple and gold as a basketball and baseball player. He also played in several softball leagues through the years. Tim worked for the Dollar General Corporation and retired after 35 years of service. He married Stacy Carol Copass on June 2, 1991, at her parents' home. To this union were born two children: Elijah Timothy and Rachel Caroline. Tim was a good husband, a good father, a good son, a good brother, and a good man. He is survived by his wife, Stacy Birge, his children, Elijah and Rachel Birge, his mother, Nina Birge, and one brother, Donnie Birge, and wife, Michelle, all of Gamaliel, one sister, Vickie McLaughlin, and husband, Steve of Madisonville, Kentucky and a host of family members and friends. Funeral services for Tim will be conducted Monday, August 24, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. from the Anderson-Bartley Gamaliel Chapel, with burial to follow in the Freedom #2 Cemetery. ** Due to Covid-19 regulations, masks will be required to be worn upon entry of the Funeral Home. ** Visitation will be at the Anderson-Bartley Gamaliel Chapel on Sunday, August 23 after 3:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time for services at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the services will be Elder Terry Ford and Elder Greg Dunham. Alternate forms of remembrance can be made to Gamaliel Elementary School or the Freedom #2 Cemetery Fund and may be made at the funeral home. Anderson-Bartley Gamaliel Chapel is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Birge.
