Obituary Annabel Jenkins Steen, 99, of Bowling Green formerly of Gamaliel, passed away Tuesday, September 6 at the Christian Healthcare in Bowling Green.She was born April 28, 1917 in Monroe County, KY to the late Tom Jeff Jenkins and Bessie Harlin Jenkins. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Monroe County for 37 years. She was a member of Kentucky Retired Teachers and a member of Greenwood Park Church of Christ. She was united in marriage on April 18, 1942 to Edwin Newton Steen who preceded her in death on May 12, 1988.She is survived by a daughter-in-law: Nancy Steen of Bowling Green, one brother: Jeff Harlin Jenkins and wife Martha of Bowling Green, two grandchildren: Katherine Ann and Andrew Ross Steen both of Bowling Green, and three great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son: Barry Steen.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 8 at 11:00 AM at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery.Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Wednesday and after 8:00 AM on Thursday at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel.Memorials are suggested to the Gamaliel Cemetery or Monroe County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund. Mrs. Annabel Steen was my 4th grade teacher. She was a great teacher and believed in corporal punishment. Years later I saw her while she and my mom were at Rosewood and she was still one sharp lady and she loved to talk about her grandkids. May she rest in peace.
