Jerry C. Agers

Mr. Jerry Agers, age 74, of Fountain Run, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Monroe County Medical Center.  Jerry was born on June 11, 1948, a son of the late Berlin, and Eva (England) Agers.  He was a graduate of Gamaliel High School Class of 1966 and attended Western Kentucky University until he enlisted in The United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Vietnam and Germany. He was proud to earn his National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star, two Overseas Bars, and an Expert M-14 Medal.  He married Doris Ann on December 16, 1972.   In addition to proudly serving our country, Jerry served as Fire Chief for Flippin Volunteer Fire Department from 1999 until 2002.  He retired from SKF after twenty-plus years of service.

In addition to Doris, his wife of fifty years, he is survived by three daughters; Leslie Marion of Glasgow, Lindsay McCoy of Scottsville, and Lauren Wiley and her husband Timmy also of Glasgow.  Seven grandchildren; Abigail and Amelia Meadows, Gunner Marion, Eli and Ryan McCoy, Haley and Autumn Wiley, and several cousins also survive. 

In addition to his parents; Berlin and Eva (England) Agers, he was preceded in death by one daughter Elizabeth Ann Agers.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, from Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel, with burial to follow in the Neal Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00.

Pallbearers: Tommie Bowles, Eric Capps, Stephen Burnett, Marc Burnett, Brian Meadows, Tommy McCoy, Tony Richey, and Scott Gullett

Honorary Pallbearers: Nick Cornett, Chris Hughes, Tim Turner, Randy Gullett, Carlie Proffitt, Hal Teeters, and Barbara Copass

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Neal Cemetery or Flippin Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Jerry.
