Martha Jane Nevins

Martha Jane Nevins, born February 26, 1949, in Glasgow Kentucky, passed away at Alive Hospice on April 26, 2022, at the age of 73. She was raised by loving parents Randall and Jennie Mae Grider, and her family eventually moved to Tompkinsville, Kentucky, where she grew up.

Jane spent most of her life as a homemaker, where she was unofficially the greatest southern chef to come out of Tompkinsville. She also used her skills as a dietician to prepare meals for diabetic patients at Baptist Hospital. She also worked as a Middle school secretary at Ezell Harding Christian school. Aside from her love for educating and helping people, Jane loved sewing, painting, and crafting of all types. Jane is preceded in death by her parents Randall and Jennie Mae Grider, husband Joseph Clark Nevins, and brother Jimmy Grider.

She is survived by her children Jennifer Burton and Andrew (Radka) Nevins, grandchildren Asher Clark Burton and Ellis Dale Burton, and a number of other family members.

Visitation with family and friends from Tompkinsville, Kentucky will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Bartley and Sons Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

Prayers for the family 🙏

Jennifer,
So sorry to hear of your Mother's death. I have known the family most of my life and had such regard for the Grider family as both our educators and neighbors on the farm. I know you will have the support of your husband and his family. I often shared a ride to Lipscomb with Jane when we were both students at Lipscomb. I know your faith and trust will sustain you during this time and pray God's richest blessings on your family.

Jane and I shared many adventures, memories, near escapes, and more fun than I can describe! She was my wonderful friend and a Christian lady. Love you, Jane. Rest in peace. 🙏🙏🙏❤❤
