Willis Ira Murray
Mr. Willis Murray, age 85, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2022, at TJ Samson Community Hospital, surrounded by family. Willis was born in Moss, Tennessee on March 5, 1937, a son of the late Clurie and Vella (Proffitt) Murray. He married Patricia Dryburg on December 13, 1957, she preceded him in death on September 30, 2010. Willis retired from Insley Manufacturing, where he was a heavy equipment operator, after retirement he enjoyed spending time on his farm and trading. He was a member of The Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his two children; Dwayne Murray and his wife Donna of Tompkinsville, Lee Ann Bragg and her husband Willard, of Etoile, Kentucky, a very special friend; Hellen Strode Eaton, four grandchildren; Stefanie Ferguson, Lucas Bragg, Ariel Perry, and Kayla Wesolowski, one great grandchild; Rowan Perry and one great-grandchild on the way. One brother; Selby Murray, of Red Boiling Springs, and two sisters; Reba Meshlam, of Orlando Florida, and Norma Davis of Tompkinsville also survive.
In addition to his parents, and his wife Patricia he was preceded in death by five sisters; Elease McQueen, Dorothy Lawson, Ruth Hyden, Ella Mae Zamarippa, Lorine Goad, and three brothers; Vanus, Ellis, and Delmas Murray.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Gamaliel Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. until time for services at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Willis. Those may be made at the funeral home.
